Touring My Master Bedroom | At Home Series
We moved into a new home across town about 9 months ago, and it was such a greater undertaking than I anticipated (#stillnotfullyunpacked). We haven’t moved homes since having our daughter, and there is just so much more that goes along with it when you have kids.
I’m excited to bring you a new series, focusing on highlights of our home, both inside and out. First up: the master bedroom.
Like many, I feel like our bedroom is an escape, and I really wanted it to be a retreat away of sorts. It’s a space just for Blaine and I (of course, when Harper, the 4 year old, or Hamlet, the cat, isn’t highjacking the bed).
If something is currently purchasable, I included those details below each photo, so if you see something you just have to have, I hope you can find it (and remember, I may earn a small commission off the links on my site, of no additional cost to you). If the link is out of stock, comment below, and I’ll see what I can do!
I love dark walls, crisp white linens and pops of colors. I went with a blue and white theme throughout our bedroom with a few pops of coral and gold. Blue is a calming color and help you sleep, which is of course the prime purpose.

These bookshelves came with the house (originally from Ikea but the previous owners had the baseboards built around them, so they seem like built ins). They were black originally, and we painted them white upon move in, which pops against the dark blue walls and allows the styled bookshelf accessories to really show.
The mirror is from a Calder Clark wedding or photoshoot that she listed on a local swap page and remains one of my favorite pieces EVER.
I’ve detailed the stylings of each bookshelf below and so much fun shopping and searching for the perfect things for each one.
There’s something special about having true southern bedding: sheets, duvet cover and the quilt from Alabama-grown cotton and pillows from South Carolina indigo. I’ve detailed more about my dreamy Redland Cotton bedding here, but sleeping is now a true dream. Ahhhh!

I love styling bookshelves, but I also find it challenging to get the right pieces to all work together. It was extra challenging that there are two bookshelves side by side, so I wanted them to coordinate well.

My sweet friend Caroline Staley, aka The Gallavantor, was my first call when I knew I needed a pop of color above our bed. She has the most beautiful paintings, and I’ve been eyeing them for years.
Her commission process is SO easy:
1. I sent her some pictures of our room (she can come to your home too if you’re local to Charleston)
2. She asked if I had any requests or if I wanted her to surprise me (of course I chose surprise)
3. VOILA!! She created these just for my space, and I couldn’t be happier.

That’s a wrap! I hope you enjoyed my master bedroom tour. Now fingers crossed, it will look this clean the next time I show you a sneak peek. 😆
