‘Tis the season to be jolly … and fabulously dressed as well of course. I’ve rounded up my personal dressy & casual Christmas party outfit ideas. Whether you’re staying home and celebrating via Zoom or attending a small get together with close friends or family, I’ve got you covered!
Dressy Chrismtas Outfit Idea:
This emerald green and black midi dress from the Who What Wear Target line is a true stunner. The high neck, puff sleeves and keyhole in the back offer high end detail, and you won’t believe it falls just under $40. This festive dress is perfect for a Christmas party, a night out or even a nice dinner at home.
Dress | Tights | Boots | Leather Jacket
You can easily dress this look up with pumps or heels, a nice clutch and a peacoat. Or you can add some edge like I did with patterned tights, heeled combat boots and a leather jacket. Because this dress is such a statement piece with both its pattern and detail, definitely keep the accessories neutral.
One thing I love about choosing a more practical shoe with a dressier outfit is the walkability of it. If you’re headed out on the town, or headed to several places in one night, wearing heels can be downright … painful. Add kids, bags of presents and food to the mix, practicality becomes crucial. Boots and sneakers are an amazing trend, I’m happy to see through!
No matter how you style it, you will look elegant and sophisticated in this dress.
Casual Christmas Outfit Idea:
When you want to add some fun festive Christmas flair but don’t want to dress up too much, this casual holiday outfit is perfection. I ordered 5 or 6 plaid skirts to try this year and find the best one for the price point, and this one is a winner! I sized up to a medium in the skirt, and it fits perfectly. Nothing says Christmas more than plaid … am I right!?
Skirt | Similar Sweater | Over the Knee Boots | Necklace
The plaid skirt paired with over the knee boots offers a casually cozy but super trendy look. These otk boots are my absolute favs. I tried several before I fell in love with these (size up a half size!). You could easily dress up this outfit with pumps or tights and booties … or dress it down with some sneakers, a t-shirt and a jean jacket.
To keep it bright and cheery, I wore a white sweater I had in my closet (you might recognize it from this Casual Fridays at the Office post), but you could add in a black, red, green, camel or even gray top as well, pulling from the colors of the skirt.
I hope these dressy and casual Christmas party outfit ideas give you some ideas on what to wear this holiday season. One of the things I love the most about all of these pieces is their wearability throughout the rest of winter … and for holiday seasons to come.
