You can never go wrong with a classic white dress. If you know me, you know that I love a good summer staple from Target, and this dress was less than $30! Best part, I’ve been wearing it everywhere! So, without further ado, say hello to my most worn dress this summer.
There’s something special about a midi-length dress that’s not too tight but hugs in the right places. I could wear this dress to brunch, church, a baby shower, a picnic … you name it!
It can be dressed up or dressed down, especially with your shoe and accessory choice. But most importantly — it’s comfortable. If you’re a mom like me, you know that comfort is more important than style, but we all still like to be stylish, right? RIGHT!

Fabrics Worn in Summer for Breathability
Here in Charleston, the heat and humidity is brutal, and some dresses make it worse. BUT! Some fabrics make it better with their breathability. I put together a little list of fabrics perfect for summer weather! There are really only five main fabrics that will help you beat the heat:
-
Cotton- Cotton is a great fabric for summer. It’s soft, lightweight and breathable. It’s also cost-friendly and available almost anywhere.
-
Linen- Linen is loosely woven, so it will keep you dry and cool without sticking to your body. The only issue I have with linen is that it wrinkles easily, however it’s very comfortable to wear.
-
Rayon- Rayon is a blended fabric made of natural and synthetic fibers with cotton. The fibers are really thin, which allows breathability. It’s light and often used in sportswear and summer dresses.
-
Chambray- Chambray will give you the denim look without it being so heavy! It’s much lighter and often described as an imitation denim.
-
Jersey- Jersey is drapey, soft and flexible and generally a great summer fabric. Do be mindful of the shade of jersey, as this does show sweat more easily than other fabrics.
Fabrics to Avoid in Summer
Generally speaking, you want to avoid these 5 fabrics in the summer: nylon, acrylic, polyester, vinyl and fleece. Just say no … and save those for cooler temps. You can thank me later!
